(Part II) Looking forward: The Transformation of 2012

This is Part II of a series that will conclude tomorrow.  You can catch up on Part I here, and tune in tonight (Wednesday) at 7 pm to the Musings on Astrology radio show where we will be discussing these important cycles.

Where we are now

transformation of 2012Art by Teka Luttrell. In 2010 a major alignment of planets in the cardinal signs of Capricorn, Cancer, Aries and Libra began to take shape.  Pluto in Capricorn, Saturn in Libra, and Jupiter and Uranus in Aries all  took their places in a drama that forced many of us to make changes in our personal lives in order to accommodate these global forces for healing and transformation.  These forces reached a peak during June’s eclipse in Cancer when the planets aligned in a Grand Cross of transformation and power.

Now that we are just one year away from the dreaded 2012, many are fearful of changes that might still occur.  “Haven’t we had enough change?” we may be asking.   And if everything in our personal lives is in balance, then we have had enough change.  THEN we are ready to take a break.  Until that point, the planetary gods work tirelessly to encourage personal and global transformation to bring balance into our earthly lives.

During the summer of 2011 Uranus in Aries will be within one degree of an exact square to Pluto in Capricorn.    The combination of Uranus and Pluto is a particularly potent one that breaks down old structures and ways of being (Pluto) so that something new and fresh and completely authentic can replace it (Uranus).  This is not always an easy process.  Those of us who remember the 1960s (when Uranus and Pluto conjoined in Virgo) will remember the thrill of radical and revolutionary new lifestyles that broke down the stuffy (Virgo) morality of the period.  This was a time of great liberation around the world: Black Power, Women’s Liberation, the domino of independent states across Africa as colonialism fell– but there was also a great Plutonic cost in terms of human lives that were lost  as the old order was broken down (Pluto) in order for change (Uranus) to take place.

The upcoming square of Uranus to Pluto will actually begin in the summer of 2012, and the two will dance an incredible seven times before concluding in March of 2015.  The turbulence that we see now sweeping across the Middle East and North Africa is just the beginning of this wave of Uranus/Pluto energy that seeks to sweep away the old and rotting corpse of a way of life that no longer works for humans at this stage of their psychic and spiritual development.  This same dynamic will be at work in our personal lives, revealing any pocket of experience that is no longer serving us and which needs to be removed from our lives.   This will understandably create a certain amount of chaos on an intimately individual level.

The changes of the next few years will most personally affect those of us with planets between 5 and 15 degrees of the cardinal signs (Cancer, Capricorn, Aries and Libra), and most especially those with Uranus and Pluto in these signs, including:

  • Those born between 1919 and 1928 with Pluto in Cancer
  • Those born between 1929 and 1932 with Uranus in Aries
  • Those born between 1951 and 1953 with Uranus in Cancer
  • Those born between 1969 and 1972 with Uranus in Libra
  • Those born between 1974 and 1978 with Pluto in Libra
  • Those born between 1989 and 1992 with Uranus in Capricorn

With Pluto in Capricorn, the very foundation of our material world will be challenged by the Uranian influence.  Our finances, our retirement plans, our marriages – any of these structures that we build to contain our lives could be threatened if they are not built on solid footings.  The effect of Uranus can be very stressful for the nervous system since Uranus operates on an electrical platform that can excite and thrill us, but also inspire anxiety and distress.   It is crucial to remember during this period that if any aspect of our personal lives break down under these influence, it is because they are no longer serving their purpose and require transformation in order for all involved to move forward in their personal evolution.

Uranus/Pluto and the power behind the revolution

As you may know, the revolutionary fever spreading through the middle east is not isolated to the Arab world.  In Wisconsin, protests against anti-union measures by the governor there have mobilized tens of thousands of government employees and students since February 15th.

These protests are just the beginning of what will become a firestorm of political resistance over the next year as Uranus, planet of revolution, squares off against Pluto, planet of power and control.  They were inspired by the return of Jupiter into Aries and the simultaneously square of Jupiter to Pluto in Capricorn, which mainlined confidence (Jupiter) and courage (Aries) into the souls of individuals who were fed up with the control (Pluto) of autocratic governments (Capricorn).

The face-off between Jupiter and Pluto is just above over now, but when Uranus enters Aries in a few weeks it will take Jupiter’s place in the battle against autocracy, and Uranus is a much stronger player in this game.  Uranus is at the 29th degree of Pisces now, so its influence is already filtering through.

Astrology gives us a window into the real meaning of personal and world events.  It cannot predict specific events, because (in the opinion of this astrologer) events are not predestined.  We make choices as individuals, as communities, as nations, that can alter the course of history.  But astrology does provide us with a climate report that alerts us to the energies with which we will be dealing over the next few years, and they are not pretty.

Political analysts can see the handwriting on the wall, even though they don’t understand the energetic dynamic that underlie the events.  One analyst writes that the protests in Wisconsin were inspired by the revolt in the Arab world.  There is some truth to this, because a small fire in a forest can ignite a very big flame, but the conditions must be right for the flame to ignite, and this is what is happening here.

The protests in Wisconsin arose after Republican governor Scott Walker proposed a bill that would remove most collective bargaining rights for state workers.  Astrologically, social justice and equality are the province of Uranus, and Uranus moving into Aries will be more aggressive in demanding individual rights as well as the right to collectively seek these rights.  Pluto’s trip through Capricorn, which began in 2008 and preciptated the economic (Capricorn) crisis (Pluto), is also having the effect of consolidating power (Pluto) in corporations and government entities (Capricorn).  You can see how the goals of Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn are at odds with each other, and where this will lead to trouble.

An article in the New York Times (thanks Jill for the link)  reports that one of the groups encouraging Governor Walker to shut down the unions is the conservative lobbying group Americans for Prosperity, a nonprofit group that was created and largely financed by the Koch brothers, the billionaire brothers who own Koch Industries, an energy conglomerate.  The Koch brothers have become a major player in the American political field, with secret (Pluto) tentacles of support behind a wide variety of tea party and other grassroots organizations that appear to be fighting for liberty and freedom (Uranus) for all Americans.  These are buzzwords that appeal to the American pursuit of happiness and all that, but are actually geared towards consolidating power (Pluto) and money (Capricorn) into the hands of a monied few.

Using these effective buzzwords, Americans allow themselves to be convinced to vote against their economic self interest over and over again. The consolidation of money and the power that comes with it is expected under Pluto in Capricorn, but Pluto can destroy as well as consolidate.  The square from Uranus which will be affecting us over the next three years has the potential to wake up she sheeple to fight (Aries) for their individual rights (Uranus).  But as with everything else in life, we have the choice to wake up when the alarm sounds, or to remain asleep. Uranus in Pisces and “Ubiquitous Computing”

Ubiquitous computingI read an article the other day that mentioned  ”ubiquitous computing” which resonates so clearly of the mutual reception between Uranus in Pisces and Neptune in Aquarius that I had to do a little more research.  We call this “mutual reception” because both Uranus and Neptune are in the signs that is ruled by the other – Uranus in Pisces, ruled by Neptune, and Neptune in Aquarius, ruled by Uranus.  Mutual reception intensifies the strength of the astrological influence, which in this case combines the blurring of the boundaries that Neptune/Pisces inspires with the technological detachment of Uranus/Aquarius. (See these links for other articles on the subject.)

Neptune entered Aquarius in 1998, and Uranus entered Pisces in 2002.  Both planets change signs this year, but there’s no disputing the fact that the mutual reception between these two planets have created the sense that computing and living with electronic screens is absolutely ubiquitous.

Although the actual expression “ubiquitous computing” was first coined in 1988, we could argue that the idea became a reality with the release of the Iphone.  In an interesting astrological timing, Steve Jobs announced in 2003, with Uranus having just entered Pisces, that cellphones would become important instruments for computer access, and subsequently announced the Iphone launch in 2007.

The notion of “ubiquitous computing” has become a field of study in itself,  Financial giant Citi’s representative said, ”Ubiquitous computing is about embedding computing into our daily lives, it is social, cross platform, cross device, cross OS by default. Today, email is ubiquitous and social graph-based apps are also ubiquitous. “ According to Wikipedia 27 countries currently host research centers in the field.

Now that Uranus is moving into Aries and Neptune into Pisces, it will be interesting to see what the field of computing will bring us.  Warfare (Aries) through technology (Uranus), certainly, but I suspect we are on a New Frontier (Aries) as well.  Neptune moving into Pisces will offer its own challenges, which we will be discussing this week here at Astrological Musings.

“Day of Rage” across the middle east

astrology of protestsAs I wrote a few weeks ago, Jupiter re-entering Aries in January set off a firestorm of anger across the middle east and north Africa.  At the time I wrote:

I can’t help but think this is a good thing, even though like all difficult planetary cycles it won’t be comfortable and is certain to be accompanied by bloodshed.  But balance must be achieved, and it’s the job of Uranus (and Jupiter, to a lesser extent) to emancipate the oppressed and when in a square to Pluto in Capricorn, to destroy (Pluto)  the old structures (Capricorn) that are already rotted and decayed.

Uranus enters Aries in the later part of March, but Jupiter will move ever close to a square to Pluto that culminates in mid-February.  Jupiter brings confidence and demands to be heard – Jupiter after all was the King of all of the gods on Mt. Olympus.  Jupiter refuses to take a back seat to the Lord of the Underworld, no matter how much destruction will ensue.

Today Jupiter is two degrees away from that challenging square to Pluto, and sure enough, unrest is spreading like wildfire as protesters take to the streets all over the world.

  • In Libya, protesters have encountered resistance against their “Day of Rage” against the Qaddafi regime which has left at least four dead.
  • In Iraq, blood has flowed in anti-government protests in southern Iraq and in Kurdistan.
  • In Yemen, protests continued for a seventh day and become more violent.
  • At least three protesters in Bahrain have been killed and at least 60 are missing in anti-discrimination demonstrations there.

This fever is likely to continue as long as Jupiter (in fiery Aries) is in a challenging square to Pluto in Capricorn, representing the power (Pluto) of government, (Capricorn), an aspect that won’t culminate until February 24th.  At that point Mars will have moved into Pisces and tempers will cool for a few weeks, giving us a respite before Uranus enters Aries.

Anarchy comes to Carrboro NC

One of the things we have to look forward to with the entry of Uranus into Aries is a new surge of radical and revolutionary freedom fighters (Uranus) who seek power for the individual (Aries).  The word “anarchy” is derived from the Greek word “anarchos” which means “without rulers,” and “anarchy” is usually defined as “a state of lawlessness resulting from a failure of government.”

When Uranus in Aries brings its freedom fighters to conflict with the concentration of power that Pluto in Capricorn attempts to enforce, you can see what might happen and we’re seeing this now in Egypt.  And now the force of anarchy is taking root in Carrboro North Carolina where my office is located.

Carrboro is well known for being one of the most liberal cities in the US.  It was the first municipality in North Carolina to elect an openly gay mayor, and one of the first communities in the country to pass a resolution against the war in Iraq.  But it’s a big step from progressive politics to anarchy:

Pass any papered utility pole from Carrboro to downtown Chapel Hill, and you’ll see traces of their presence: The anarchists are everywhere.”You cannot avoid us. Even if you don’t like us, you know we’re there because our posters are [expletive] everywhere,” said self-proclaimed anarchist and Carrboro resident Neal Richards. …

“Because we want a society where people solve problems collectively on a grassroots, community level, we take action in ways that reflect that desire,” he said.

Anarchists describe it as “Direct Action.”

Read more here… Nothing says “Aries” better than “direct action.”  Aries after all is ruled by Mars, the god of action and aggressive inspiration.  Aries will add a new level of excitement to the already thrilling disruption of Uranus, and it will be fascinating to see what happens next when Uranus and Pluto face off later this year.

And the revolution begins.

astrology of Egypt protestsJupiter entered Aries last week for the first time since leaving that fiery sign of war last fall and retreating back into Pisces. You may remember that Jupiter and Uranus were conjunct in Aries back in late May and the summer of 2010, coinciding with the rise of revolutionary fervor in Thailand, Krygystan,  Israel.  This was also the time of the first big Wikileaks.

Aries is all about self-preservation and self-initiation, and Jupiter’s entry into Aries means that it is getting closer to a challenging face-off against Pluto in Capricorn, where power (Pluto) is compressed and channeled through governments and corporations (Capricorn).  The writing is on the wall, and when Uranus joins Jupiter in Aries this fever of revolution and surge of protests against the establishment (Capricorn) in a call for liberation (Uranus) will continue to escalate.

Last week it was Sudan, Jordan and Tunisia, and now it is Egypt, Lebanon and Yemen whose people are rising against the oppressive government in that country.  This puts the United States in a difficult position – on the one hand, we supposedly stand for freedom and personal liberty, yet the regimes that we support in the middle east are repressive and corrupt.  Still, those regimes provide some stability in a region that has the ability to erupt like a powderkeg in the upcoming Uranus/Pluto square.

So fasten your seatbelts folks, it’s going to be a bumpy ride for the next few months.

Jupiter in Aries 2011

Jupiter in AriesJupiter first moved into Aries last spring with the first phase of the  conjunction of Jupiter to Uranus.  This meeting of the two planets of liberation in the sign of initiation was the instigator for the alignments in cardinal planets that I called the Cardinal Drama.  With up to seven planets and luminaries interacting in the early degrees of the cardinal signs (Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn) last summer, it was a powerful force for change.  Jupiter and Uranus then retrograded back into Pisces where they completed the second two phases of their conjunction.  With Jupiter now back in Aries, we begin to move forward to complete the work of last year’s planetary events.

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac.  This is the beginning of new experiences – in Aries we tend to approach our lives from a place of innocence.  Jupiter in Aries is accurately depicted by the Fool card in the Tarot.  The Rider Waite fool depicts someone who approaches their life with complete trust and innocence.  It’s a beautiful day, the Sun is shining, and they’re about to walk off a cliff.  The little dog is barking in warning, but the Fool has complete trust that the Universe will take care of him and protect him.  Jupiter in Aries offers a fresh new beginning of faith and trust in the Universe and in our own ability to follow the path that our soul has set out for us.

Over the past few years Saturn and Uranus have been in opposition to each other, pitting the conservative thinking and desire to retreat to the past of Saturn against the tremendous force for change that Uranus inspires.  Uranus rebels against the past and wants to experience something new and fresh – Uranus wants a life that is better suited to a changing world.  We have seen this playing out in global politics, but also in our own lives.  The goal when two planets are in opposition is to integrate both polarities and find harmony in the balance. Until we do that we are pulled back and forth – pulled by Saturn back into the past, reflecting that which is safe, that which we’ve depended on, and then pulled by Uranus which wants to break free into something totally different and new.

When Jupiter conjoined Uranus, encouraging that urgency for change, Saturn became the weak point.  Regression into the past was no longer an option.  When Jupiter and Uranus retrograded back into Pisces they were not as active, and the pressure to create change in our lives lost some of the impetus of the beginning of the cycle.  At that point Saturn was interacting with Pluto and we were pulled for a bit into the darkness and may have had a re-emergence of some of the fear of change that Saturn can bring.

With Jupiter in Aries, there is a desire for constant growth.  Jupiter expands, and Aries is endless energy and initiation of new actions.  We don’t want to be still – we don’t want to submit to any rules.  There’s lots of enthusiasm and passionate and pure, unadulterated drive and this will be accelerated when Uranus enters Aries in March.  Jupiter will remain in Aries until June 5, at which point it will move into Taurus and have a grounding influence which will be very helpful as we move into some of the summer’s more challenging planetary cycles.

This kind of energy with Jupiter and Uranus in Aries is very exciting for people that have a lot of fire and air in their charts.  They love this opening door of freedom, and the feeling of change in the air.  Others of us that are more conservative or cautious by nature may find this big push of energy flying around somewhat frightening.  It’s important to remember that this is the time to break free of old patterns and beliefs that hold us back.  We can’t go back through the door – the old ways are gone.  Human consciousness is accelerating now and we have to break through the barriers that keep us stuck in a box.

Physical exercise will help us to release any energy that we cannot handle, and help to ground us so that we can better utilize the flow of electricity and magnetism that is affecting us right now.

The last conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus occurred in 1968 – in fact, the Apollo mission landed on the very day of the second phase of that conjunction.  At that time, the Uranus/Pluto conjunction of 1962-1968 occurred first, creating the breakdown of the old ways, and then the shift into consciousness occurred with Jupiter and Uranus (in Virgo at that time).  This time the shift in consciousness of the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction occurs first, and then when Pluto squares Uranus next year the changes in the outer world and global transformation occur in response to the alterations of the inner world.

The astrology of Julian Assange: we have a birth date!

Updated 12/2/10  with more chart details. As you may know, on Tuesday the Wikileaks website released hundreds of cablegrams from diplomats in a variety of countries around the world.  The feedback against Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks, has of course been profound.  In fact, Interpol has just issued a “wanted notice” for Assange for an investigation into his “sex crimes.”  This makes a date of birth available for Assange, something we have been craving since he burst onto the scene.

Assange told Forbes that his next target is Big Business.  In any case, Assange isvirtually single-handedly acting out the planetary drama of Pluto (destruction and revelation of secrets) in Capricorn (governments and Big Business) about to be set off by a square from Uranus (radical revolutionary behavior) in Aries (individual rights).  In fact, right now Uranus is at a virtual standstill and is acting most powerfully, which has stimulated the revolutionary fervor of the Wikileaks action.

Julian Assange astrologyJulian Assange (born July 3, 1971 according to the Interpol documents, time unknown, Townsville Australia) has the Sun in Cancer, with a nearly exact square from the Sun to Uranus which explains his radical tendencies.  People with the Sun in Cancer or with Cancer strong in their charts are extremely sensitive to the needs of others, and as a rule feel the pain in the world far more than the average person.

You can read a quasi-biography of him here in my earlier post; very little is known about his early life but he was used as a model for a work of fiction which reveals some clues.

Chiron is also square to Assange’s Sun, and opposite Uranus – a challenging T-square that necessitates the balancing of a wounded sense of Self (Chiron/Sun) with a tendency towards radical actions (Uranus/Sun).  Mars is in Aquarius, the sign of social justice, and it is locked in a challenging square to Jupiter which suggests an aggrandized drive to instill fairness and equality, whatever the cost.  The troublemaking planet Eris is also locked into this T-square, and while I am not yet using Eris in charts that much she certainly seems to be an important player here.  Briefly, Eris is the new planet that was reclassified along with Pluto and Ceres, and in mythology she was the sister of Aries, god of war, and as goddess of strife and discord, the instigator of the Trojan War.  I like to think of her as describing small events that lead to major cycles of transformation. (Read more about Eris here.)

This chart for Assange also has a Plutonian component with a Scorpio Moon (Scorpio is ruled by Pluto) and with Pluto is in a challenging square to Venus, challenging his relationships and creating difficulty for him in making alliances.  A Plutonian chart tends to live more powerfully and with a greater tendency towards drama and intensity than another chart would.

That Venus is interesting, being in the dual sign of Gemini which makes the square to Pluto that much more problematic.  In this planetary system (Venus/Pluto), Pluto demands that relationships be intense and drive us deep beneath the surface, yet Gemini fears the entrapment of this kind of depth, preferring to be more available to a wide variety of experiences.  Assange has some classic characteristics of the commitment-phobe with a hunger for radically new and diverse experiences (Uranus/Gemini) and the dark and brooding intensity and demand for passion that Pluto and Scorpio engender.

Transiting Saturn has been setting off the T-square system in his chart involving his Sun, Uranus and Chiron over the past couple of months, coinciding with the threat of prosecution over two alleged rapes.  (These charges are widely considered to be trumped-up as a means to get some kind of control over Assange: see this article for one viewpoint.)  A transit of Uranus in opposition to Pluto in his chart is also stirring up the collective rage but also his own passion and transformative force.  And as Chiron points out in the comments, his progressed Mars is conjunct his natal North Node this year, driving him closer to his ultimate destiny.

Wikileaks has been around for a few years but burst into the scene when Jupiter and Uranus entered the individualistic sign of Aries.  For some Assange is a hero, because he is exposing the hypocrisy of governments and business.  For some he is a terrorist, because he operates outside of the boundaries of society and law.  No matter what you think of him, there’s no doubt that he is becoming a major player, and emblematic of the upcoming Uranus/Pluto square over the next few years.

A prayer for peace on Veteran’s Day

Veterans dayThere is little doubt that the United State economy is dependent upon military spending, as shown in a recent study by the University of Alabama at Birmingham.   As is often noted, General and then President Dwight Eisenhower, warned back in 1960 of the dangers of the military-industrial complex in a speech which is eerily as true today as it was fifty years ago:

Throughout America’s adventure in free government, our basic purposes have been to keep the peace; to foster progress in human achievement, and to enhance liberty, dignity and integrity among people and among nations. To strive for less would be unworthy of a free and religious people. Any failure traceable to arrogance, or our lack of comprehension or readiness to sacrifice would inflict upon us grievous hurt both at home and abroad.

Progress toward these noble goals is persistently threatened by the conflict now engulfing the world. It commands our whole attention, absorbs our very beings. We face a hostile ideology — global in scope, atheistic in character, ruthless in purpose, and insidious in method. Unhappily the danger is poses promises to be of indefinite duration. To meet it successfully, there is called for, not so much the emotional and transitory sacrifices of crisis, but rather those which enable us to carry forward steadily, surely, and without complaint the burdens of a prolonged and complex struggle — with liberty the stake. Only thus shall we remain, despite every provocation, on our charted course toward permanent peace and human betterment.

Crises there will continue to be. In meeting them, whether foreign or domestic, great or small, there is a recurring temptation to feel that some spectacular and costly action could become the miraculous solution to all current difficulties. A huge increase in newer elements of our defense; development of unrealistic programs to cure every ill in agriculture; a dramatic expansion in basic and applied research — these and many other possibilities, each possibly promising in itself, may be suggested as the only way to the road we wish to travel….

The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual [of such a large military establishment and a large arms industry] — is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

read the entire speech here…

It occurred to me today that Obama can’t get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan, because the economy of our nation is so dependent now upon the military and the industry which supports it.

When Uranus, planet of revolution, moves fully into Aries, the sign that is ruled by the god of war, it will begin a challenging square to Pluto (concentrating power) in Capricorn (structures and establishments) that will be in effect for about three years.  It will be interesting to see what kind of effect this has on the “military industrial complex” as more and more wars (Aries) with faceless enemies (Uranian rebels) necessitate a complete and total transformation in the way these wars are fought.

For now we can only pray for peace and the wisdom of our leaders to begin that transformation before the system rots away from the inside out, and thank the men and women who bravely face untold dangers every day for the beliefs they hold dear.

The Plutocracy of Pluto in Capricorn 2010

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Thursday said the United States would be ceded to plutocrats and oligarchs if Republicans win next month’s election, referring to the flood of pro-GOP corporate election spending.

Peasants for Plutocracy by Michael Dal Cerro

The word “plutocracy” is being heard more and more these days, as in this article quoting Nancy Pelosi.   It’s an interesting word as it contains the word “Pluto” which is all about power and control.  Merriam-Webster defines “plutocracy” as government by the wealthy, which reminds us that in Roman mythology Pluto represented an amalgam of the Greek gods Hades (the Underworld) and Plouton (wealth) for whom he was named.  In ancient times wealth had nothing to do with paper currency or funds held in online institutions: the wealthy collected pots of gold and silver and precious metals, all valuable items that were found under the earth, Pluto’s realm.

When Pluto entered Capricorn, the sign of structures such as government and banking institutions, many astrologers predicted the consolidation of power in some of those institutions, and the destruction and regeneration of others.  Pluto rules the process of destroying that which no longer serves us and regenerating something new in its place.  The United States is particularly prone to confuse wealth with power due to the presence of Pluto in the US chart second house of money and finance.

Oligarchy is defined as the consolidation of power into a small group that exercises this power through tyranny and servitude.  Certainly the growing influence of corporations (ruled by Capricorn) in the American political system lends credence to the idea that we are fast becoming a plutocracy.  However, the planetary alignments of 2010 have brought a new influence into play: the political rebel is in its ascendancy.  The revolution of the Uranus/Pluto conjunction of the 1960s occurred on the left; the Uranus/Pluto square of the 2010s is occurring on the right.  We saw the very beginnings of this revolution this year when Jupiter and Uranus tiptoed into Aries and faced off against Saturn and Pluto, and by next year the rebellion against the status quo will be in full force.

I would argue that the United States has been heading into a Plutocracy since Ronald Reagan was in office; since the early 1980s the concentration of wealth in the higher echelons has continued to grow to the point where today the top one percent of Americans own 40% of the nation’s wealth.

When Uranus returns to Aries next spring, the revolutionary fervor that we saw this year will continue to make waves, and while it’s clear that most of the dissatisfied Americans aren’t really sure what it is that they want or who can give it to them, the dissatisfaction will continue.  So I say, bring on the Plutocracy – once it is firmly in place as the Establishment, Uranus in Aries will have a very clear target for the next three years as it battles in a square against Capricorn Pluto.
