Grand Sextile/Star of David, July 29 2013

I have been writing about the Grand Trine in Water that is in effect for much of this year, and at the end of the month a Grand Trine in Earth will intersect with the Water Trine and form a Star of David, or Grand Trine.

Similarity to Harmonic Concordance

The Harmonic Concordance that occurred on November 8, 2003 was considered a portal to awakened consciousness.  The Harmonic Concordance featured the same combination of planetary alignments as the July 29th Grand Sextile:

  • Two interlocking grand trines (120 degree angles) in water and earth signs.
  • Two oppositions (180 degree angle).
  • A hexagon of sextiles (60 degree angles) forming a Grand Sextile.
  • Two “T-square” formations (an opposition where both planets are square (90 degrees) to another).

The Harmonic Concordance occurred at a total eclipse of the Moon which we don’t see here, but otherwise they are similar patterns.

They are also similar to a configuration that could be the actual Star of Bethehem: a heliocentric alignment of planets forming a Star of David in the year 5 bce.  Jesus of course was said to be born under the Star of Bethlehem and his legend involves him being a direct descendant of David.

The Symbolism of the Star of David or Solomon’s Seal

The Star of David (also called the Seal of Solomon) has been an esoteric symbol for thousands of years.  In India it was a tantric symbol called the “Satkana Yantra” and represented complete balance between Shiva and Shakti, the divine masculine and divine feminine.  Alain Danielou, in the book “The Gods of India,” writes:  “The two complimentary principles, the linga and the yoni, are graphically represented by the fiery triangle with upward apex and the watery triangle with downward apex.  When the triangles penetrate each other to form the hexagon, this is taken to show the state of manifestation.   When they part, the universe dissolves” (p.219).

According to the Bible, King Solomon was a great lover of women and ignored the instructions of Yahweh to keep away from the women of certain countries who would turn him  towards their gods.  Legends describe a magical ring that was given to Solomon so that he could summon djinns and demons, but it is more likely that in his investigation of other religions he was given the hexagram as a magical symbol of tantric unity.

The Astrological Hexagram or Star of David

In any case, the astrological Star of David is a rare and unique alignment that opens the doorway of consciousness.  It is receptive in nature and assists in the opening of the heart to greater understanding, fostering an alchemical process that transforms the lead of every day existence into the gold of awakened consciousness.  In fact, the symbol for the heart chakra, the Anahata, is a hexagram in a lotus flower.  Inherent in the configuration is a combination of ascension into spirit with grounding into matter and this is particularly true in the July 29th alignment because we are dealing with the element of water (spirit) and earth (matter).

The Trine (120 degree) astrological aspect inspires ease and harmony but it can also lead to a static experience where there is little growth or evolution.  When two Grand Trines interlock the result is a combination of stressful aspects (oppositions and T-squares) that apply pressure for change with the harmonious energies to keep the transformational forces flowing.

The planets involved in this Star of David formation are:

The Earth Grand Trine:  Venus in Virgo, Moon in Taurus, Pluto in Capricorn

The Water Grand Trine: Saturn in Scorpio, Neptune in Pisces, Jupiter in Cancer

The oppositions: Saturn opposite Moon, Venus opposite Neptune (and Chiron, who is loosely involved), Pluto opposite Jupiter/Mars.

The Mystic Rectangle: Pluto sextile Saturn which opposes Moon, Moon sextile Mars Jupiter which oppose Pluto.

The Grand Sextile: Six pairs of sextiles: Pluto sextile Saturn,  Saturn sextile Venus, Venus sextile Mars/Jupiter, Mars/Jupiter sextile Moon, Moon sextile Neptune, Neptune sextile Pluto.

The T-squares:  Sun in square (90 degrees) to Saturn and Moon; Uranus in square to Pluto and Mars/Jupiter.

By their very nature oppositions contain a tension that is difficult to integrate into the whole.  The combination of the challenging forces with the harmonious ones facilitates awakening and transformation. T-squares are even more powerful since a third conflicting energy must be managed and integrated.

The Mystic Rectangle is a magical alignment that takes two opposing forces (oppositions) and applies a gentle pressure (sextile) that virtually assures that growth and transformation can occur.

What can we expect?

Our experience in today’s world combines the pressures of the world around us with the internal pressures to grow and evolve.  The square aspect between Uranus and Pluto that is a 5-year cycle is creating intense pressure to adapt and allow change to flow through our lives where necessary.  For many of us this has been incredibly difficult and we have resisted wherever possible.

For the next week Mars and Jupiter are in alignment and in a stressful opposition to Pluto.  This is bound to create an intensity of experience that will be balanced by the harmony inherent in the Grand Sextile.  Still, we will not be able to just sit back and relax – there will be choices required and difficult truths to recognize.

Many of the New Age sites report on these alignments as though they are magic, and in fact they are.  The doors of perception and awakening are opening now, and portals to greater wisdom are available for us to walk through.  But magic requires our cooperation.  In order to take those steps something must be released.  We must let go of the negativity and resentment we have been holding onto.  We must let go of our victimhood and our tendency to punish ourselves.  We are being cleansed and cleared of  the psychological and  spiritual detritus with which we adorn ourselves so that we can truly awaken into a truer experience of our lives and a greater understanding of our destiny.

All we need to do, is let go.

Update:  Johnny Mirehiel, the astrologer who first identified and named the Harmonic Concordance, visited the comments section and added these remarks:

It was this precise timing of the Eclipse of the Moon, which occurred at the exact same moment anywhere in the world, that 1) made [the Harmonic Concordance]  so unique that there was not another like it found in a 6,000 year search from 2,000 BCE to 4,000 CE and 2) allowed for a single moment of focus that became the world wide celebration of many of the same energies that you attribute to the Star of David (Seal of Solomon) pattern. Those celebrations garnered the attention of some 14,000,000 spiritually/metaphysically attuned and kindred souls who tapped into those energies and tuned them to their own individual prayers of conscious intent.
A further note, if I may inject it here, is that one of the major components of the Concordance chart, as I interpreted it, was that since it was such a heavily Earth centered moment, that those celebrants also were asked to focus on a healing for out Mother, Gaia, in addition to its other energies.
But bringing us back into a 2013 time frame, I find it interesting that the occurrence of this (today’s) chart takes place in the same year as the tenth anniversary of the Concordance. Both are markers on the path of Humankind’s journey to Oneness.

thank you for remembering,
Johnny Mirehiel

recently I saw a quote about letting go: let go or be dragged

I’m curious what your read on this would be… In my natal chart- I have four planets (Neptune Scorpio, Jupiter Pisces, Mars Taurus and Pluto Virgo), Chiron Pisces as well as my ASC (Scorpio 1 degrees) and DSC (Taurus 1 degrees) conjunct this star. I can say I am experiencing a manifestation of a romantic partnership which is complex and very much “in process”, requiring my openness, perhaps indicated by the many astrological aspects involved here. As well, I am a tantric practitioner whose skills are recently at a point of heightening receptivity to the clients who come for healing. I find it interesting that you mention tantric energy in your article.

Thank you, Lynn, for remembering and connecting today’s alignment to that of The Harmonic Concordance. You have done a very nice job of summarizing the astrological implications of the Grand Sextile pattern and its history.

I would, however, note that the Concordance chart showed a TOTAL ECLIPSE of the MOON, rather than an eclipse of the Sun. It was this precise timing of the Eclipse, which occurred at the exact same moment anywhere in the world, that
    1) made it so unique that there was not another like it found in a 6,000 year search from 2,000 BCE to 4,000 CE and
    2) allowed for a single moment of focus that became the world wide celebration of many of the same energies that you attribute to the Star of David (Seal of Solomon) pattern.

Once again, thank you for remembering,

Johnny, thanks so much for YOUR work on the Condordance (readers, it was Johnny Mirehiel who first identified this alignment). And I apologize for my typo, if you read much on this blog you will see that with my Gemini ascendant it is all too common an occurrence. I will include your comments in the post.

      • Johnny MirehielJuly 30, 2013 at 3:05 pm #

Ah, yes…another Gemini Ascendant. Do we all have Dyslexia? LOL. It’s been (one of) the banes of my existence.
Thanks so much for your postings and the generous comments.
BTW, do you think that a 10th Anniversary celebration would garner any attention?

        Thanks again,
        Johnny

I meditated that day for about half an hour. I felt good energy coming in my crown chakra. Then later around 5 or 6 i felt like half of my soul was ripped out and grieved for several hours. What was that all about?

  9. MicheleAugust 2, 2013 at 12:25 pm #

I had similar experience Lori. I meditated then just collapsed in tears. Next day my heart was filled with immense gratitude. I also realized I wss taking someone for granted.
